Temperatures are dropping and strong winds are setting in for winter. There is a large proportion of homeless individuals and families living on the streets of Maputo City. The homeless also have their own stories to tell. Let's give them a sense of purpose so they don't feel like they have simply been forgotton.
01 We are calling for donations of essential items including old/new blankets, shoes and warm clothing.

03 Donations accepted throughout winter. We will personally distribute randomly, as and when we recieve donations.
HOW IT STARTED.
Our mission is to give back to those in need. Our desire initially led us to a cause that is apparent in Maputo - homelessness.
The idea for the PICO Mission started at home. Seeing our fellow people searching through rubbish bins to find their next meal really hit home for us. We began cooking a large meal each week and distributing to homeless individuals as a personal endeavour.
But how could we reach more people and make a bigger impact? Veggie bags! We decided to bring you something essential at a good price, which would generate extra funds that could be invested alongside our own on a weekly basis in order to buy a larger quantity of quality produce for those in need.
Since July 2021, with the help of our amazing community, we have fed 1671 individuals in need and donated funds to orphanages throughout Mozambique.
HOW IT’s going.
Since venturing on this mission, we have learnt many things. Ultimately, we are grateful for the overwhelming response we continue to recieve from our ever growing community. Just last Christmas, we decided to encourage ourselves and family/friends to feed 1000 individuals in need - we managed to exceed our target and fed 1200 individuals! Through A LOT of coordination across 5 different locations, and the incredible efforts of our community and restaurants here in Maputo, we pulled this off on the HOTTEST day of the year… 40 degrees, people! This is now turning into a blog so I’ll cut to the chase…
We knew there were many people and causes in need in Maputo, not just the issue of homelessness. However, by us taking this step to try to bring people together, we have developed a network with orphanages, churches schools, restaurants and facilitators. Our mission is to continue to use our platform to raise awareness for those in need through our own initiatives, and to inspire others to do a little act of kindess each day… because it really does go a long way.
We are working at getting back to a regular routine in which we can support such causes. If you have a cause that you feel would be beneficial to gain more awarenesss through our social media platform, please reach out to us. Together, we can do more.
